Mechanical lymphatic drainage is an effective and gentle therapy of the lymphatic system, which is also sought after for its relaxation and cosmetic benefits. It supports overall body regeneration following injury, surgery, or overexertion, aids in detoxification, improves cellular metabolism, and enhances physical fitness and immune function.
Before commencing mechanical lymphatic drainage, it is important to manually release the lymph nodes in order to increase the therapeutic effect and prevent lymph accumulation proximal to the node. This release is performed on site by a physiotherapist prior to each application. For mechanical lymphatic drainage, our facility uses 24-chamber compression sleeves for the lower limbs, with fully adjustable programmes and therapy duration, including individual pressure correction in each chamber.
Depending on the programme selected, the therapy lasts 45–60 minutes and should be performed 1–2 times per week.
Mechanical lymphatic drainage is a painless procedure administered in a supine position, with pressure levels adjusted to the patient's subjective perception. Increased fluid intake before and after the therapy is important (warm beverages are recommended).
For hygiene reasons, patients are required to bring cotton trousers or leggings and clean, loose-fitting cotton socks. Should you forget, these can be purchased on site.
